If your name is John Connor, I'd sleep with one eye open tonight. Why, you ask? Well because according to Sarah Connor, in the original Terminator, Skynet would become self aware and take over the world on April 19th, 2011 at 8:11 PM. There have been rumors flying around the Internet recently that there is another Terminator film in the works, but nothing has been confirmed by the studio. And honestly, after the mess that was Terminator 4, maybe the reboots need a break. Unless, they decide to do something similar to T2 that involved Arnold coming back and trying to kill Connor as a boy again, I don't see the movie bringing in an audience.
Skynet is just a symbol for humans being controlled by their own inventions that are originally created to protect and enlighten them. Hm, maybe Skynet isn't the beast created by James Cameron, but maybe Skynet has become Steve Jobbs and his Apple corporation. As I type this on my Mac, I'm listening to my itunes, answering a txt or two on my blackberry. And as soon as I push post, this post gets sent straight to Twitte, facebook, and Tumblr. Technology like laptops and cellphones were supposed to make life easier, but instead I think they've made it much more complicated. We may not be entering a war with Skynet tonight, but after seeing how pop culture is obsessed with the newest and best gadgets the question remains; Are we creating our own version of Skynet?
