SDCC: 8 Can't Miss Panels Friday at Comic-Con

Posted by Christina Cooper on July 12, 2012 at 9:15 PM

Since you’re Thursday at Comic-Con is now over, it’s time to figure out what you’re doing tomorrow! And from what I’ve been reading on twitter, the mood on the floor is different than past years. Usually comic-con is a super awesome environment to be in, but I think some people are taking the floor a little to seriously, and could possibly be brining down the camaraderie that has always made Comic-Con awesome. My advice would be to try and hit up the floor early and then get in line for Ballroom 20.

What: Community!

Where: Ballroom 20

When: 10:00

Who: Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie and Yvette Nicole Brown.

The cast hasn’t been together since NBC fired creator Dan Harmon. The cast is flawless and I’m sure there will be lots of fan questions for the new producers since Harmon isn’t in power anymore. Be sure to check it out if you’re planning on being in Ballroom 20 all day anyways.

What: Big Bang Theory

Where: Hall H

When: 12:05

Who: I’m assuming the whole cast.

This will be the first year that Big Bang takes over the gigantic Hall H, and I know they won’t disappoint. Although I felt that last years panel was missing its usual spark, I think the craziness of Hall H will bring out the best in the panelist. And, I’m assuming there will be some big surprises, and maybe some sick swag!!! Also, I heard they are planning on showing the first episode of season 6!!!

Where: Ballroom 20

When: 12:30

Who: Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Sean Maher, and Summer Glau

Does this panel even need explaining??!!! I know this is shocking, but Firefly never had a panel at Comic-Con, so if you want to be apart of some real Browncoat, then make sure to get to Ballroom 20 early!! Also, (this is strictly speculation) does anyone else think that there’s going to be a big Shiny announcement about some new Firefly stuff??!! With Joss’s success in Avengers, could studios be lined up to allow him to make any of his passion projects??!

What: The Walking Dead

Where: Hall H

When: 1:25

Who: Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Norman Reedus, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira David Morrissey, and Robert Kirkman

Walking Dead has received the Hall H treatment this year! I’m looking forward to the possibility of new footage and any word on where Kirkman plans to take the 3rd season of his show. Also, we are getting to meet the two new cast members, Danai Gurira and David Morrissey.

What: Game of Thrones

Where: Hall H

When: 2:45

Who: Alfie Allen,Emilia Clarke, Michelle Fairley, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Richard Madden and George R. R. Martin.

This was one of my favorite panels at last years Con, and for good reason. The cast is hilarious, young, and energetic and will definitely play right into the excitement that is the Hall H atmosphere. I don’t except any new footage, but I do expect tons of great news about the 3rd season!

What: CW’s Arrow

Where: Ballroom 20

When: 3:00

Who: Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy

The CW is sending this freshman drama to Ballroom 20, and I think it could be just the thing to turn the CW around. This is their first attempt at a superhero since Smallville ended two years. I haven’t seen anything about the show, but I think it’s a smart idea for CW. I haven’t wanted to watch a show on CW since Smallville went off the air, but I think I will be tuning into see this. Also, fans at this panel will be treated to the pilot!

What: JOSS WHEDON (Nerd God)

Where: Ballroom 20

When: 5:30

This is a no brainer. It’s Joss Whedon. The nerd who loves Comic-Con as much as you. The guy who grew up reading about Thor, Iron Man and Captain America and then one day wrote the script and directed the greatest superhero mash-up of all time. Yup. Told you it’s a no brainer.

What: Defiance

Where: Room 6DE

When: 6:45

Who: Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Tony Curran

We all can agree that SyFy hasn’t had a great show since Battlestar Galactica, but Defiance seems to be the first step in the right direction. I don’t really know anything about the project, but I trust in Julie Benz and hope that this show is worth tuning in for. Check out the panel for yourself and decide if SyFy is on the right track.

Honorary Mention: Breaking Bad will be here for the first time. I haven’t gotten around to watching the show yet, but I’ve heard it’s one of the best to ever grace the small screen. If you’re a fan, then I’d check it out. the room might clear out after Joss, so keep your eye on twitter. Ballroom 20, 6:45.

Indigo Ballroom- Adultswim is going to be there just about all day. If you’re a fan, I’d plan on camping out there most of the day.
