For the nerd in all of us

Everytime Joss Whedon opens his mouth, nerds everywhere stop and listen. We love Joss. We love the shows he's given us. We love the characters he's created. And we even love him when he takes those awesome characters from us! Today Joss did his ever AMA on Reddit and was able to answer questions directly from the fans themselves. As I read through all of his witty responses, I realized why everyone loves Joss Whdeon. He's a fucking cool dude. Although he only spent about two hours doing his AMA, Joss was still able to answer plenty of questions with his usual goofy/witty/awesome nerdiness.
One of the main reasons why Joss has been such a hit with fanboys and girls alike is because he loves talking about science fiction and nerd culture just as much as they do. Below are a few of my favorite quesionts/answers from Joss's AMA.
Roundy210: I read online that you plan to begin shooting Dr Horrible 2 after you finish up on The Avengers. Is this true, and is there any chance you could give us an idea of what we can expect?
Joss Whedon: We're not shooting right now, we're still in the early stages of writing. But we hope to make a great deal of progress this summer. And you can expect the death of someone you love.
wjc06: Just an idea. Put Firefly season 2 up as a project on Kickstarter and see how much money you can get to buy the rights and make it happen.
Joss Whedon: Step 2: Cancel Castle. Step 3: Cancel Homeland. Step 4: Generally destroy everybody's careers. Step 5: Avoid Step 2.
Vithren: 1) So. Firefly. When will second season be here? living in denial 2) How was working with Avengers team like? 3) Why did you change Captain America costume design? 4) How hard it was to take another shoot at realistic CGI Hulk? Was he done by ILM? Weta digital?
Joss Whedon: 1) See above. 2) Like herding adorable kittens. 3) It was always meant to be updated to the more comics-based look. 4) ILM did the Hulk -- very difficult, VERY successful.
Daikki: Have you ever been approached to write a Doctor Who episode? Is it something you'd be interested in doing if the opportunity presented itself?
Joss Whedon: The doctor is dope, but I've just spent 2 years writing other people's characters, plus I've got my Firefly kickstarter adventure. (See above.)
Evil_Laugh: WHY DO YOU KILL EVERYONE THAT I LOVE?!
Joss Whedon: You love stupid people.
dbertie: I'm sure that killing off a character you've invested a lot of time in can be tough. Have you ever found that doing this to a particular character has had a profound emotional affect on you? Who was the toughest kill?
Joss Whedon: I actually find it refreshing... delightful.... vaguely arousing.... Actually, I'm, no offense, very tired of being labelled as "the guy who kills people". Shakespeare (he's this hot new writer) does it way more than me, and everyone's all excited about how he, as it were, holds a mirror up to nature, while I'm like the Jason Voorhees of the writing community. Unfair. Also, probably Buffy's Mom.
It was a super awesome AMA, and I really hope Joss does another one soon! But this AMA isn't the only awesome nerdy thing that Joss Whedon has given us today.... He did an awesome interview that you can read here where he talked about his love for The Walking Dead and his first time at Comic-Con! In the final question in the interview, Joss was asked: In a fight between Buffy and Black Widow, who do you think would win? Read his kickass response below:
Buffy would go easy at first, but as soon as Natasha popped her with a Widow Sting, she'd start bringing some slayer brawn to the fray. Natasha's fast, but a couple of good connects and she's wobbling, possibly something broken -- she whips out her glock and now Buffy's dodging -- right where Natasha wants her. Natasha shoots the cable holding the steel barrels and they tumble onto Buffy, nearly burying her -- Buffy just arcs out of the way, grabbing the splintered cable and swinging directly onto Natasha, a bullet grazing her cheek as her feet land hard on the Russian's shoulders, sending her back flat -- crack! -- on the floor, Buffy wrenching the gun away and tossing it, fist ready for the final strike. Natasha, struggling to stay conscious, says the fight's over. Buffy agrees, but Natasha explains: She poisoned Buffy hours ago. That waitress that brought her salad …? Natasha smiles. The poison is dormant -- 'til it's activated by adrenaline. Buffy's eyes narrow. "Too bad I didn't use any." Wham! Natasha's out for the count, and Buffy's heading -- slowly -- to Willow for a mystical cleanse.
That'd be my first guess.
Yup... Told you it was fucking awesome. I honestly cannot wait for Avengers now!!!
